Homestay Day 6-Tour around Hekinan

Sugiura san spent one day with me and Makoto to tour around Hekinan city for whole day. Have to thank him very much.

Sugiura san and the poor kids in trolley. In Japan, the kids are being put in trolley when they are brought out in groups.

Makoto at the Hekinan city library. The library is very new, there is one whole level for kids and there is story telling sessions for the kids. The special thing for the library is they provide service to rent out paintings. Some are copies of the famous art work.

The library and multipurpose hall are next to each other

The multipurpose hall, the seats can move forward or backward automatically to provide more space.

門松(kado matsu), where Japanese will put in front of their house during New Year

The plant flower assembled pop-corn

Hekinan Japanese traditional dolls

The making of the dolls

To bend the hand, it requires some skill and only those masters can do it

This is typical doll for Girl's Day 3rd March every year. From mid to late February, families with daughters will put out the dolls with the hopes their daughters will grow up healthy and happy. One superstition associated with this is that if they are late in putting away the dolls when the festival is over, their daughters will become old maids.

Look at the price, the price depends on the material of the dolls and on how many levels they are.

The doll made of clay is cheaper

I like this photo. In front of our homestay house
